Originally
conceived
in the
fall
of
1988
, the
goal
of a
new
library
anchored
the
college's
"
Vision
for
Tomorrow
"
capital
campaign
, an
initial
,
$10
million
dollar
effort
. By
June
1990
, with the
financial
goal
met
, the
college
accepted
a
proposal
from the
Sisters
of
Mercy
for a
redesign
of
Sacred
Heat
Convent
as
part
of the
new
library
construction
. The
college
agreed
to
assist
the
Sisters
in
raising
needed
funds
to
renovate
the
remaining
structure
for their
use
. The
new
70,000
square
foot
library
,
known
as
Busse
Library
,
opened
to the
campus
and
community
on
January
11
,
1993
.
